CGM National Gospel Soccer Tournament: “Love” is the Starting Point

May 31, 2014

From the university students to the officer workers, engineers, and even the fathers who are the head of the household, everyone ran passionately on the sports field.

As the days counted down closer to the National Gospel Soccer Tournament, it wasn’t just the techniques obtained through regular practice that were felt on this sports field. People from different cities, schools, and walks of life gathered together and competed because of the Word of Life they had all studied.

After the games, around two hundred players who had participated in the game embraced each other and confessed, “I love you!”  They demonstrated a completely different soccer culture. Instead of viewing the opponent as the enemy, the devil, or as an opponent that must be defeated, one should play the game with love as the starting point. One should even live in that way every single day.

“Love” may be a word that is easy to say, but putting “love” into practice is actually very difficult. This is especially so for men. However, at this venue - through soccer, worship, embracing one another, till hand-holding at the end - even though “love” is not visible to the eye, it can be felt when it is given.
